$13.00

Take home a postcard print reproduction of (Untitled) Larry's Music Bar, by Iyana Esters. A large scale work that is part of the current exhibition Rhythm and Resilience: Black Vegas.

The original (Untitled) Larry's Music Bar is a 37 × 48 inch tapestry made in 2025 by the Artist.

This tapestry honors the spiritual and communal legacy of Larry’s Music Bar, where blues, jazz, and gospel moved beyond time and place. Its four vertical columns represent distinct dimensions of sound, story, and ancestry. Indigo-dyed denim pays homage to ancestral labor, and the improvisational spirit of Gee’s Band, blended indigo and yellow hues evoke African rituals; vinyl motifs and musical staff forms channel Larry’s enduring presence. Batik-inspired lower panels further connect the work to West African textile traditions. At the center, symbolic figures, drawn from community memory rather than specific individuals, reflect the shop’’s mid-century history, Larry’s encouragement of local children, the candy shop revamp by granddaughter Leslee Wilburn, Muhammad Ali’s visits, the strength of Black women, and the protective elders who shaped the space. Together, these elements weave a visual score celebrating heritage, creativity, and collective spirit.
