This exhibition is the culmination of a multi-month period of time in which 33.G created space for the Mass Liberation NV team of organizers to find grounding and freely express themselves through the visual arts. Participants all received an individual “art kit” and were introduced to the basics of visual art, and how these tools can be used in a number of ways from the therapeutic and spiritual, to the utilization of art tools to engage in, articulate and preserve our own history (ourstory).

This workshop and exhibition series has been completed with both the Mass Lib youth as well as the adult cohort of organizers, with many moments of intergenerational art-making.

It is our sincere hope to now be able to bring this work into the jails and prisons themselves. Stay tuned for the next chapter.
